We use cookies and similar technologies on theprepmint.in for a few purposes:
What we set, and why
| Name | Type | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential — can you opt out? No — required for the Site to function | |||
pm_anon | Cookie | A random identifier that ties the tests you take to this browser, so your progress and your results survive a reload before you have an account. It is not linked to your name or your email. | 1 year |
authjs.session-token | Cookie | Keeps you signed in after you use a sign-in link. On the live HTTPS site the same cookie is named __Secure-authjs.session-token. | 30 days |
authjs.csrf-token, authjs.callback-url | Cookie | Set by our sign-in library while you are signing in: one protects the sign-in form against cross-site submissions, the other remembers where to send you afterwards. On the live site they carry __Host- and __Secure- prefixes. | Until you close the browser |
pm_auth_sent | Cookie | Remembers which address a sign-in link was just sent to, so the “check your email” screen can show it back to you and the resend button knows where to send. It expires with the link it describes. | 15 minutes |
pm_merged | Cookie | Carries how many anonymous attempts moved onto your account when you signed in, so we can tell you they came with you. Deleted as soon as that message has been shown. | 10 minutes |
pm-region | Cookie | A two-letter country code, worked out on our server from the request and written back to your browser. It is what tells the page whether to ask for consent before any advertising or analytics tag is allowed to load. It holds no more than your connection already tells us. | 30 days |
| Preferences — can you opt out? No — but each one exists only because you used the thing it remembers, and clearing your browser’s cookies and site data removes all of them | |||
pm_who | Cookie | One or two initials, so the header can draw your avatar in the first paint instead of jumping from “Sign in” to your account after the page loads. It is not a sign-in credential and grants no access. | 30 days |
pm_push_ask | Cookie | Whether this browser has already been asked about notifications, and what it answered, so we do not ask again. Set only if you answer that question. | 1 year |
pm-consent | Local storage | Your cookie choice itself — which of advertising, personalisation and analytics you allowed, and when you decided. Change it with the button under Managing your preferences. | Until you clear it |
pm-theme | Local storage | Whether you chose light, dark, or to follow your system setting. | Until you clear it |
prepmint:recent-searches | Local storage | The last five things you searched for, so the search panel can offer them again. They stay on your device and are never sent to us. | Until you clear it |
prepmint:announcement-dismissed:… | Local storage | Which site announcement you closed, so it stays closed. One key per announcement — the part after the last colon is that announcement’s id. | Until you clear it |
| Analytics — can you opt out? Yes, via the preference manager below | |||
_ga | Cookie, via Google | Understanding how visitors use the Site (Google Analytics / Firebase). It tells one browser apart from another and holds no name, email or account id. Despite the vendor, this is a first-party cookie on theprepmint.in — our page loads Google’s gtag.js and that script writes the cookie here, on our domain, not on one of Google’s. | 2 years |
_ga_… (one per analytics property) | Cookie, via Google | The session-state companion to _ga, written by the same script on the same domain. The part after the underscore is our Google Analytics measurement id without its G-prefix; that id is a deployment setting, so the exact key depends on which property this site reports to and is not printed here rather than guessed at. | 2 years |
firebase-installations-database | IndexedDB, via Google | Not a cookie: a small database the Firebase SDK opens to hold the installation id that identifies this browser to Google Analytics. It is created when analytics starts, which only happens once you have allowed analytics. | Until you clear this site’s data |
| Advertising — can you opt out? Yes, via the preference manager below | |||
__gads, __gpi | Cookie, via Google | Google AdSense uses cookies to serve and measure ads. Like _ga, these are written by Google’s script as first-party cookies on theprepmint.in — the names are Google’s, the domain is ours. Google also sets cookies on its own domains, which this table does not list because their names and lifetimes are Google’s to change; the section below points you at Google’s own controls for those. | Set by Google |
That is the whole list of what this site, and the scripts it loads, put on your device under theprepmint.in. If you open your browser’s developer tools and find a key stored against this domain that is not in this table, that is a bug in this page and we would like to know about it. Cookies stored against Google’s own domains are a separate matter, covered under Third-party cookies below.
Managing your preferences
If you’re located in the EEA or UK, you’ll see a consent prompt on your first visit letting you choose which non-essential cookies to allow.
